I have a server running CentOS4 (current) with qmail that's been running fine for months. This morning the system 'froze', and after a hard reboot I see this is what happened in the syslog: Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: oom-killer: gfp_mask=0x1d2 Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: Mem-info: Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: DMA per-cpu: Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: cpu 0 hot: low 2, high 6, batch 1 Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: cpu 0 cold: low 0, high 2, batch 1 Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: Normal per-cpu: Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: cpu 0 hot: low 18, high 54, batch 9 Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: cpu 0 cold: low 0, high 18, batch 9 Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: HighMem per-cpu: empty Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: Free pages: 388kB (0kB HighMem) Jan 3 09:14:26 shem kernel: Active:17306 inactive:12408 dirty:0 writeback:0 unstable:0 free:97 slab:3797 mapped:30692 pagetables:3563 Jan 3 09:14:35 shem kernel: DMA free:40kB min:40kB low:80kB high:120kB active:8376kB inactive:12kB present:16384kB pages_scanned:14146 all_unreclaimable? yes Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: protections[]: 0 0 0 Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: Normal free:348kB min:360kB low:720kB high:1080kB active:60848kB inactive:49620kB present:147456kB pages_scanned:499686 all_unreclaimable? yes Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: protections[]: 0 0 0 Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: HighMem free:0kB min:128kB low:256kB high:384kB active:0kB inactive:0kB present:0kB pages_scanned:0 all_unreclaimable? no Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: protections[]: 0 0 0 Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: DMA: 0*4kB 1*8kB 0*16kB 1*32kB 0*64kB 0*128kB 0*256kB 0*512kB 0*1024kB 0*2048kB 0*4096kB = 40kB Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: Normal: 1*4kB 3*8kB 2*16kB 3*32kB 1*64kB 1*128kB 0*256kB 0*512kB 0*1024kB 0*2048kB 0*4096kB = 348kB Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: HighMem: empty Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: Swap cache: add 2633082, delete 2632716, find 2865709/3239978, race 1+26 Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: 0 bounce buffer pages Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: Free swap: 0kB Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: 40960 pages of RAM Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: 0 pages of HIGHMEM Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: 1326 reserved pages Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: 41362 pages shared Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: 366 pages swap cached Jan 3 09:14:42 shem kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 528 (mysqld).
