edit /etc/mail/sendmail.mc

dnl define(`SMART_HOST',`smtp.your.provider')dnl

s/b

define(`SMART_HOST',`smtp.west.cox.net')dnl

then...

# make -C /etc/mail

restart sendmail

mail will be sent out via 'smart host'
