Because of its speed, I would have preferred to remain a Cox user. As I recollect, I was paying about $56/mo for the service (just high-speed internet, no cable tv.) I'm paying $25.99 for DSL service. I believe I used a link/sys (?) modem for several years, although when it died, I replaced it with standard Motorola Surfboard sb5120 (with which I'd willingly part since it doesn't work with DSL.) Furthermore, one can purchase an Actiontec DSL modem which will play nicely with Qwest. What I'm saying, I guess, is that you are not locked in to either Cox hardware or Qwest hardware. Had I known about the Cox offer of $14.95/mo, that might have been a deal breaker for moving into my current apartment. If that's a solid offer, jump on it. Cox is faster than DSL; however, DSL ain't all that bad. During times of high internet traffic, the difference in speed just isn't a factor, and DSL is so much faster than dial-up you just don't care. It may not be click of the switch fast (which cable is only sometimes) the one or two second wait isn't too hateful. My $.02 worth.
