the parity errors began when I installed a scsi card so I'm very sure it has to do with that. In any case the new command (sorry I didn't think of dmeg and tail beig two seperate commands) did produce a new output. The baseline and just placing the the PDA in its cradle gave me the same result as before but when I pressed the snync button I got something different.I kept increasing the tail variable until the parity error was displayed: (the camera sync output remained the same as yesterday ) bmike1@0[~]$ dmesg|tail -n 80 [17210058.664000] hub 1-1:1.0: cannot reset port 1 (err = -71) [17210058.664000] hub 1-1:1.0: cannot reset port 1 (err = -71) [17210058.664000] hub 1-1:1.0: Cannot enable port 1.
