I am attempting to introduce some friends to Linux using the Ubuntu
Dapper Drake 6.06 Live CD. I am having a major problem with printer
setup. As a particular example, one machine has an old Panasonic
KX-P5400 printer connected to lpt1. Whether I choose std KX-P5400
(Postscript) or KX-P4410 (PCS) mode I do not get the printer drivers
installed. Both drivers, however, installed without a problem on an
installed copy of Ubuntu 6.06.  A different machine was unable to
install an HP Jet-Direct networked printer.

This appears to be a bug in the Live-CD version. Does anyone have an
idea how to force the Live-CD version to correctly install the drivers?
