I love mepis but I feel I want to try another distro. What better time to put a new one on than now (if you've read my problems) with an installfest this SAT. My question to ya all is which would be the best system considering the age of this box (97) for office apps and internet activity? I would love to learn more but don't really see the point of it at the moment. Currently I am out of work so as usual I would like to spend as little as possible in getting it going. I do love debian so perhaps genuine debian instead of the 'mini' debian (knoppix, ubuntu, mepis, any of the others). This is my system (amazing that a thread would come up today asking how to querry the system- I didn't have to do it:!) root@1[hda4]# uname -a Linux mepis1 2.4.22 #1 Wed Nov 19 13:13:23 EST 2003 i586 GNU/Linux You have new mail in /var/mail/root root@1[hda4]# more /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 5 model : 8 model name : AMD-K6(tm) 3D processor stepping : 12 cpu MHz : 501.149 cache size : 64 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 pge mmx syscall 3dnow k6_mtrr bogomips : 999.42 root@1[hda4]# free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 377 372 4 0 9 243 -/+ buffers/cache: 120 257 Swap: 1000 0 1000 root@1[hda4]# --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
