-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Good question. You seem to have misunderstood what I was saying. Others may also have the same misunderstanding. Let me explain further. Let me start by saying I used to do the same thing and I learned why it is annoying to people using threaded readers when I started using threaded views in thunderbird. When replying to threads sometimes the subject matter changes as part of the discussion. Generally the subjects are related to each other. It is a good idea when the discussion has EVOLVED to update the Subject line to reflect that. I changed the subject to show that the topic has changed but this email is still related to the thread. Note that I specifically mention 'this thread' as part of the discussion. What I was complaining about was when people start a whole new thread just because they don't want to type the plug-discuss email address. They hit reply on an old thread and start a new discussion. Now, I'm not going to rant about this every week or even every month. In addition some email readers break threads automatically by not copying all of the headers when replying. so threads are never going to be perfect. But it is a small thing and better etiquette for people to NOt use reply when they are NOT replying. eric wrote: > Do as I say, not as I do? > > _eric > > -----Original Message----- > From: plug-discuss-bounces@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us > [mailto:plug-discuss-bounces@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us] On Behalf Of JT Moree > Sent: Saturday, October 21, 2006 4:31 PM > To: Main PLUG discussion list > Subject: breaking threads WAS Linux on laptop > > Please do not hit reply to messages and change the subject when starting > a new thread.
