Today's market is awesome for job seekers. I posted my SA resume on Dice 10/7/06 and was flooded with calls and e-mails. I accepted a position 10/12/06. (No - I don't work for Dice, nor have stock in the company.) In speaking with the recruiters, there are lots of companies wanting tech talent, which is in short supply right now. One recruiter even told me that the client had virtually no qualified candidates. Another told me that every candidate presented accepted a position elsewhere. In both cases, the rate was good - not dotcom-ish obscene, but more than I've received since 2001 and almost twice what IBMGS pays. This could lead into a rant about John Shadegg sponsoring a bill to raise H1B Visa limits to help with the tech labor shortage, and a correlation between the bill and the market, but since I can't tie in Linux somehow, I'll not go there. Nor will I suggest you express your feelings for any elected government official who wants to undermine your lifestyle, which you can do via snail mail or by getting off your butts and voting in November as that would also be off-topic.
