After trying for 3 days to create an AIM account for my daughter so she can IM her friends, we still cannot get past the "server busy" message after filling out the registration form again ..... and again .... and again .... and again ... So, on to the FAQ - maybe there is something there to help us out. No, just a lot of hype on how good AIM is.... how user friendly it is.....and how much fun it is to use. I know it is fun, or my daughter would not be clamoring for an account because all her friends have one.....Elementary school can be so competitive! So, the next logical step was to click on support...let's see, report a problem seems to be a good place to start. Actually, besides the FAQs, it is the only place to go. Ahhh, a new form to fill out. All the usual suspects were rounded up on the form - name, date of incident, type of computer, steps to recreate the problem, etc. We get to the bottom of the screen and find this message: "Check this checkbox to indicate that you understand this is not a place to get support, and that you will not receive a reply to the information you entered above. You may not submit a bug report unless you check this box. If you need help solving a problem, please visit our FAQ page instead." So....I submit the report and then....the problem is solved! I stop bothering the good folks who provide AIM and they can get back to whatever it is they are doing......I love this customer service! Hope you got as much of a laugh out of this as I did. I think I will have my clients add this note to every software product and web site we work on! I love it!!!! Think of the cost savings!!!!! P.S. There is a Linux connection here (albeit a shaky one). My daughter's computer is Debian, not Windows, so we have to sign up via the web. No fancy AIM v9085.456 CD for us, just the old fashion way from the 'net. Maybe late tonight, when everyone is asleep, I will boot up Windows and try to register through the "permanent-can't-be-removed-or-system-will explode-ever-present-aim-desktop-icon"....
