Hmm, let's see. The .iso is a filesystem image, so it would seem like you could md5sum track 1, or wherever the filesystem actually lives. Maybe not. Ripping the iso off the CD might be the simplest, surest way after all. Reminder (yet again?) for people burning CDs: just because you have a 48x drive doesn't mean you should burn as fast as possible. I burn slow and it saves a lot of aggravation.
