That just reinforces my view of Ubuntu being the windoze of Linux. I won't write a diatribe on this subject, I've just been thinking that I missed something great about Ubuntu and was missing out. Now I know I'm not missing out on anything. Fancy little name, though! At least it's still Linux, that's all that really matters I guess. Enjoy. Wow. So you have the time to learn everything about everything you use? You do: - - all your own car repairs? And own all the diagnostic equipment to read and hack the computer controllers in your cars? - - all your own home repairs? Heck you even built your own house because you like to learn and are now a general contractor? - - all your own legal paperwork? You finished law school so you could do it yourself and you like to learn? - - all you home appliance repair? A TV is easy to tear down and put back together if you like to learn? - - Etc. And anyone that doesn't like to learn all these things is just lazy and a "windoze" user? Just because someone does not want to learn all about how Linux works does not mean they are lazy or any less of a valuable user than someone that loves Gentoo or Linux From Scratch. And calling Ubuntu the "windoze of Linux" is an amazingly ignorant statement. I don't run Ubuntu but a distro that is easy to install and use is a BENEFIT not a negative! AND, such a benefit does NOT preclude one from using it as a basis to start learning how it works if one so desires. Are you saying a Linux distro is only good if it is hard to install? We may have to agree to disagree here but I think the attitude that I see in your statements above is not good for the FS/OSS community at large or even for you. I'm sorry. It must be late and I am being overly sarcastic here but this posting just hit me wrong.
