.bash_profile has one line in it: ~/.bashrc This tells it to run the .bashrc file? The bashrc file says: [ -f /etc/profile ] && . /etc/profile export KDEDIR=/user export QTDIR=/usr/share/QT3 and /etc/profile didn't seem to say anything that would lead me to think it would restart the sesion. As such it wouldn't seeem that would be the problem. > This sounds to me like your login shell environment is > somehow messed up.
