a couple more thoughts as I read through your questions more
carefully...

If DHCP is turned on in the Linksys and it serves 192.168.1.100 to
192.168.1.150 - don't manually assign any ip addresses in the range that
DHCP might use.

Also, put manual ip addresses in the print servers and any wireless
access points per my above suggestions.

FWIW...If I am using an ip network of 192.168.1.0 (class C subnet of
255.255.255.0)

I always assign...

192.168.1.1   through 192.168.1.20   to servers
192.168.1.21  through 192.168.1.40   to printers
192.168.1.51  through 192.168.1.199  to dhcp server for automatic
192.168.1.200 through 192.168.1.253  to special devices

and I always use 192.168.1.254 for my router/default gateway but that
would require altering the Linksys which as I have always noticed them
to default to 192.168.1.1 so why fight it if you don't fully understand
it?
