The article is about Google's corporate culture.  It paints the culture as
"the Google Caste System, 'in which business types are second-class
citizens to Google's valued code jockeys"

The opinions seem to boil down to the idea that Google is a tough nut to
crack in the eyes of the business community because it is an extremist
meritocracy.  One banker was given a laptop and 40 minutes to valuate a
company and write a report proving the point.  His reaction was "how dare
you".  The story is reiterated about Google booting Goldman Sachs from
dealing with their IPO after discovering GS tried to sell to investors
through private conversation rather than real stock valuation.

I would love to know where the hidden meritocracies are here in the Valley.
