it may not be you - Firewire hasn't worked real well so far in 2.6
kernel (perhaps they've gotten better results in some of the 2.6.12-x or
2.6.13-x kernels but I know for certain that Firewire HD's are not
enabled in standard RHEL 4/CentOS 4 cuz I bought a combo drive USB 2.0 &
Firewire and I still am using USB with Linux and Firewire with WinXP. I
do admit that I am doing the opposite with my iPod (USB on WinXP and
Firewire on Linux - go figure - but it works)
