I had a problem installing FC4 on an older IBM desktop box w/ PII 266. The problem was with the S3/Trio3D (I think) drivers. There was a carriage return missing in a spec file for the video. The work-around was to install headless, then go in and add the cr, then kudzu do its thing. There was a description of the problem/solution on bugzilla.
