Last time I shutdown this computer, I could mount hde7 which has my 'keeper' stuff in it. Today, I get error message that is on the links below. I CAN mount all other partitions..just hde7 giving this error. It couldn't wait till the usp package arrives. I need to access the tracking number from kde's kwrite. Dang it! Being a two year or so 'noob', I thought I had everything working from knoppix and this a 'first time' failure ever in my limited experience. The second link was alluded to by the error/refusal message. I first tried it from the 'fromhd=/dev/hde8' mirrored cd, then now from cdrom directly, same error. What do I need to do to access that partition? Even doing a cdrecord...from an earlier knoppix..3.8/.9 cdrecord is broken for me. May not work, but will down and up with 3.6 cdrom and see if it opens hde7. Reason for hde for the hd parts, the old puter had a pio4 bios ide controller and I upped the hd to a ata100 which needed a 'modern' controller..so there is a secondary pci controller card, and has been working fine for 1.5 years. No problem other than it see hde as the hd point. hda has the cdrom only running off it. http://www.geocities.com/eculbert/linux/snapshot1.png http://www.geocities.com/eculbert/linux/snapshot2.jpg Cyclists should expect and demand safe accommodation on our public roads, just as does every other user. Nothing more is expected. Nothing less is acceptable! Long live Knoppix!! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
