$59 of mikey's (listed) cost is a one-time startup fee, his monthly is $39.95 (just for internet, not phone, but he could pick up the same Vonage deal you have there).  That leaves COX about $10/month cheaper than your DSL.

BTW, COX official rates are $54.95 for 9Mbps/1Mbps, $39.95 for 4Mbps/512kbps, or $24.95 for 256kbps/256kbps.  I have the feeling Mikey might find the $24.95 plan a bit more palatable.

To answer Mikey's original question, Netzero 3G is Windows-only, Internet Explorer-only software that applies losless data compression to the dial-up connection.  It's mostly marketing, and doesn't affect the browsing experience nearly as much as they imply (and it doesn't affect file downloads at all).
