If I'm not mistaken you can have member servers, just not other domain controllers. I have two different clients, one with a Windows 2000 server as a member server of a 2003 SBS domain and the other a Linux Samba machine in a SBS domain as well. I'm not using shares at this time, but I have tied the domain security accounts to Squid for web logging and ACL's.
