I'll jump in here with my favorite server package.  

I like the ClarkConnect package.  www.clarkconnect.org    It is based on 
Fedora right now, but there is a Susa based release in the works.  It is a 
plain text interface package, but it has  web based admin pack that will work 
well for setting up samba and other stuff.  

Its been simple to set up and very stable for me.  There is a good user base 
and it has an active forum.  The free version works well, and the paid 
version (which I use) has good support people that answer problems quickly.  

The paid version is $160
