I am very frustrated because every DVD I burn has audio and sometimes video skips when played back in my player. I have tried many things to no avail. Here is the last thing I tried. - Confirmed consistent resolution, bitrate, etc. of all the MPEG files using avidemux. - Created a brand new project in QDVDAuthor (Qt based GUI frontend for dvdauthor). - Built the DVD files from QDVDAuthor ending with the creation of the ISO file (no DVD burn). - Opened the .VOB files from the hard drive and played them in MPlayer. No skips. - Mounted the ISO file on loopback and played the .VOB file from the ISO on the hard drive in MPlayer. No skips. - Burned the ISO from K3b (it used growisofs to do the burn). - Played the DVD in my second DVD-ROM drive in the computer. No skips. - Put the DVD in the player in the living room. Skips. In the exact same places as before! Now, the biggest potential hole I see is that, so far, all of my efforts have been writing to DVD-RW. I did not want to use up DVD-Rs until I got it right. Maybe my DVD player "doesn't like" DVD-RW completely. Ignoring that potential chasm, here is what I am going to do as I leave for work. I will burn the DVD-RW with cdrecord from the command line, at speed=1. My wife can test it when the burn is done. So, does anyone have any hints why the burned DVD will not play properly? Maybe my player is just lame. It is only about 3 months old but it could still be lame. Problem is this DVD is to be copied and distributed to about 60+ people. If it doesn't work in my player, how can I have confidence it will work in anyone elses? Any advise from multimedia guys is appreciated. Alan PS The entire DVD creation from video capture from the camcorder to DVD burn has been done on Linux. Therefore, this thread is on topic! ;^) IMO. --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
