Saw this article on NewsForge (http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/power/library/pa-madmac1/?ca=dgr-lnxw03MadMacP1).  It goes over how to install Yellow Dog Linux on an iMac Mini.  It's fairly well written, definitely a good resource for anyone looking to experiment with GNU/Linux on a PowerPC platform.  It's actually part of a series that will show how to setup the iMac Mini as a home media appliance, the later articles will, presumably, cover getting the multimedia features up and running.
