Depending on the distro, it may be easier to find a PCMCIA NIC (3c574, 3c575,etc) and do a network install. Possibly easier than finding an external cdrom drive that'll work without needing any additional drivers or configuration, anyhow. Just suggesting the 3com variety because they're very common and have been around for quite a long time, so they should be supported by almost any network install. I'm sure your wireless card would work just fine, but for an initial install it may be easier to use something tried and true. :) -----Original Message----- From: plug-discuss-admin@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us [mailto:plug-discuss-admin@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us]On Behalf Of ec Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2005 4:53 PM To: plug-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us Subject: Re: External CD-ROM at Installfest Is that a usb external you are talking about, as most are or some other interface. They did make scsi externals I think and I know of one parallel port or so model. I have an external, but wasn't definitely planning on coming, just if the mood strikes and weather. --- Siri Amrit Kaur wrote: > Does anybody have an external CD-ROM I could use at > the Installfest this > Saturday? > > A very kind person gave me an older laptop.
