when it rains it pours. now my laptop is messed up. during an update (up2date) i got a message about rpm failed. the computer did not respond to anything. could not restart gracefully. Could not get an alternate console. powered down. upon reboot (any of the grub kernels i choose) i get: Red Hat nash version 4.1.18 starting Mounted /proc filesystem creating /dev starting udev Loading jbd.ko module loading ext3.ko module Creating root device Mounting root filesystem kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Switching to new root exec of init (/sbin/init) failed !!!: 2 umount /initrd/dev failed: 2 Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! in the past when i got kernel panics i just reinstalled. do i have to do that again? mike hoy --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
