If you have room somewhere to copy the whole partition you can make a backup to experiment on. Boot GNU/Linux, dd the partition to a filesystem with room for the filesystem. Then you can make yet another copy to experiment on, including putting back on a new partition somewhere for m$ to try to work on. Don't confuse if (infile) and of (outfile) in the following command! dd if=/dev/hda1 of=/home/miles/machinename-hda1-26Apr2005.img ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.AZOTO.org/ # ... make it clear I support "Free Software" and not "Open Source", # and don't imply I agree that there is such a thing as a # "Linux operating system". - rms --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
