The fact that you are getting "no route to host" suggests that the issue is a 
problem with the laptop itself.  It might help if you post your routing table to 
  the list to help in diagnosing the issue.

route -n
cat /etc/resolv.conf
ipconfig -a
ps -ef | grep dhcp

and any other command that you think might help in regards to networking.
