I'd like to clear up a few things regarding X, in my mind at least.

Xconfigurator is not only RedHat specific, it's been depreciated. Here's 
a quote from a recent (1/27/05) linuxforums.org post:

"Fedora switched X windows implementations from XFree86 to the Xorg in 
Core 2. The new name for the configuration file is now xorg.conf and is 
in the same location: /etc/X11.

"As far as auto configuration is concerned you can run 'Xorg -configure' 
as root. It will try a hardware probe and should be able to get an base 
xorg.conf file for you. No guarantees though as the man page says, 'This 
option currently has some problems on some platforms'. However, I think 
it's the closest substitute for Xconfigurator or redhat-config-xfree86."

I think it's important to realize that there's a difference between 
XFree86 and Xorg - they're two different implementations of the X Window 
System. Xorg is a fork off of XFree86. The primary difference at this 
point is in filenames and locations, but the two will likely diverge 
even more in the future.
