In the meantime, there's a very good (definitive, I might say) book about Samba at http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/ Chapters 19 (Classical Printing Support) and 20 (CUPS Printing Support) are as comprehensive as any I've seen regarding Linux printing, with or without Samba.
