To be honest, we shouldn't be installing on 486en at the InstallFests. We should require at least a pentium/amd 400 or something. If they know enough to make a 486 useful they don't need our help :). We do need to consider PPC, though. For now let's plan on x86 and expand to PPC once we get some things organized. If someone wants help with PPC, Sparc, Alpha, Xscale/StronARM, etc. they should contact us beforehand and we can see if we can arrange to have someone(s) to help them. If they have an s/390 we probably need to go to them :). > Also dual boots...DEFRAG prior to arriving at the fest is mandatory if the > other OS is the one whose name we don't like to utter. Yeah, we need to emphasize that those who want to retain m$ on their boxen need to defrag prior to showing up for the InstallFest. Theoretically they don't need to if they're installing on a different disk, but let's leave that out of the instructions and just keep it simple by requiring that everyone wanting duel-boot on a machine that already has an m$ OS must defrag before bringing the box in. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.AZOTO.org/ # ... make it clear I support "Free Software" and not "Open Source", # and don't imply I agree that there is such a thing as a # "Linux operating system". - rms --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
