Here's a link to specific instructions to install java. This will work on most distributions and I have specifically used it on Mandrake: http://www.uselinuxathome.com/ENjava.htm When the instruction say to download the installer, don't follow the link, go directly to the sun/java site at http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp.
