Ubuntu uses the Gnome desktop....click the menu and search around for synaptic, it should say Synaptic package manager....when it pops up you will have to use your root password to use it....once it is on screen click the reload button on the upper left hand portion of the screen...this will update your software package list...there should be a column on the left hand side, this will help you sort the packages that are available to you and what is already installed....in the middle of synaptic you will see the names of the packages, usually the ones with a colored box (the color of the box is determined by whoever configured the Gnome desktop, you can change colors later) are either installed or upgraded...now, take your time, get familiar with it and have fun....Gabe __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
