I have recently updated my system to the latest world. Here are the major changes: - using udev instead of devfs - using kernel 2.6.9-r13 instead of 2.4.26 - using X.org instead of XFree86 - using the latest nvidia drivers (6629) - using the latest Gnome - updated nwn from 1.62 to 1.65 The problems I saw happened before the update to nvidia and x.org (was running XFree on the old 5xxx driver). So the change happened either because of udev, kernel or the nwn update. Running natively at 1280x1024, 91KHz/85Hz. I'm running nwn at 1024x768 so it has to switch resolution for the game. Everything is smooth if I go to 1280x1024 but since this is on-board graphics with an nForce2 chipset... The scan rates are 35/87 (very, very low hsync). When I reset the native resolution to 1024x768 and restart X, it runs at 68/85, both in X and in the game. If, in 1280x1024, I run the game at the same res, it scans at 64/60. I'm trying to get the game to run at a better scan rate, as it used to in the past, since an hsync of 35 flickers a lot, and shows some very ugly lines. Has anyone here seen this, and/or solved this issue? As a side note, during the update I had lost my mouse wheel. I'm also using a KVM. Here's what I did to re-enable the mouse wheel "forever": Kernel config: CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV=y (or, from make menuconfig: Device Drivers > Input device support > Event interface) This is what enables the wheel input. Grub config: kernel /kernel-2.6.9-gentoodev-r13 root=/dev/hda2 psmouse.proto=imps VERY IMPORTANT is the psmouse.proto=imps since this is what keeps the wheel mouse enabled when switching between computers. --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
