Mepis is even better. Everything 'just works'. Well, it used too. I updated 
something and now kmail won't make a noise when new mail arrives. I am 
talking about version 2003.10.2 . They have a new one (which I know nothing 
about) and they even have a comercial version and a free version now. I 
believe that there are members on this board who have the new version(s). I 
await their comments and support!

I would tell your son's friend about this.
