Earlier this year I did some work (Windows related) for my attorney brother-in-law. In my dealings with a vendor of legal software I somehow got myself on this mailing list. The open source theme of this workshop piqued my interest. It's really a lawyer thing and I have no interest in attending but I thought maybe someone in the group would find it interesting. Mr. Treude,

The faculty for our "Open Source Workshop," Jan. 14, in San Francisco, features speakers from some of the largest developers of open source software, as well as leading private practitioners with extensive knowledge of Open Source matters. Open source licenses often find their way into companies through "alternate routes" that do not always include legal review. There are over 50 open source licenses listed by OSI and little case law. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to understand the elements of open source licenses in sessions given by the organizations that wrote the licenses.
