And, as a bonus, the CD comes with Win32 version of some popular F/OSS programs. Don't judge it too harshly. I suspect the install version has more to it. I had no problem configuring ppp using pppconfig. Were you editing the wrong file (/etc also exists on the CD) and not as root?
