$ lsmod | grep snd ...should list all sound modules. Which kernel are you running? ($ uname -r) Which sound modules do you have configured? ($ grep SND /usr/src/linux/.config) I think you want the snd_atiixp module, but not sure. Which mixer are you using? Try alsamixer, then turn up volume on all and ensure all are not muted.
