And please tell us what distro your're using. Sounds like the directory is there for Koffice, Kwrite, etc. to store backups in case of a crash. Always empty files? Or always empty directories? Which is it? It's not clear to me. And are you talking about files/directories **outside** your home directory? if so, those shouldn't be tampered with.
