Hi Richard. ratpoison is designed to be ran instead of KDE rather than inside KDE. ratpoison is a window manager. Other window managers you may have heard of include kwin from KDE, fluxbox, windowmaker, metacity, enlightenment, openbox, blackbox, xfce, fvwm, and hundreds of others. generally, the easiest way to run ratpoison is to create a ~/.xinitrc file containing this: #!/bin/sh exec ratpoison then if you log in from gdm or kdm (graphical login screen) you have to pick the correct session which will launch your .xinitrc file. Generally it's called 'default', or 'xsession' or something like that; it's usually notable in the list of available sessions in the GUI because it's not kde or gnome ;) I have a web page describing my specific setup (with a .xinitrc file that launches lots of clients in addition to ratpoison) at http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ratpoison the ratpoison web page is at ratpoison.sourceforge.net they have the full documentation there along with a wiki On Wed, Sep 22, 2004 at 01:35:43PM -0700, Richard Whitney wrote: > Kevin! > > It was cool to meet you last night! > I'm trying to invoke ratpoison from a terminal inside KDE as I can't seem to > invoke it at login.
