It's something in the hosts file. But I'm stumped as to what it is. I made sure there are no lines referring to Slashdot or OSDN. So I found the old hosts file I used to use and replaced the updated one with that older one. Now Slashdot displays properly, just like it used to. Thank you all for your help.
