As a follow up, HP was a platinum sponsor at KDE's aKademy conference. 
They loaned 24 of the laptops and sold the nx5000 at a reduced price.

Schneller, Manager Software R&D of the HP EMEA Product Development 
Center in Munich regarding the NX5000 and HP's Linux strategy.
