> Is there a way to contact the person who is attempting to take over my box? Do a whois lookup using the ARIN whois server to find out who owns the IP of the box they are coming from. For example: whois 67.224.21.83 or whois -h whois.arin.net 67.224.21.83 returns that UUnet is the owner of the block IPs that you are a part of. The whois information also gives the contact information (phone and email) which may be useful. Note that it does not tell you the owner of the specific box. But sometimes whois will point you to a specific local ISP or university which makes the research easier. Also note that just because some remote IP is contacting your box, it doesn't mean the the real owner of that system is mailicious -- it could be someone else that has compromised that box. Jeremy C.
