I'm planning on being there, to help and ask for help. I've run into a problem with "TwinView", a Multiple monitor otion on XFree86Config using SuSE 9.1. I bought an HP Pavilion zd7168cl laptop that has nVidia GeForce FX Go5600 with, of course, an external VGA port. Right now, I only get a clone of the laptop display on the external CRT. I really want an extended desktop. [Of course, the dark side does it.] The nVidia website does talk about both TwinView and Xinerama. So far, I've only tried the TwinView because it has the advantage of one X-window spanning both devices. I have also posted on the SuSE-e list, but have received just pointers to docs that have helped. Here is one of my posts that gives more details: ______________________________________________________________________________________________ I just installed 9.1 Pro on my new HP Pavilion after repartitioning, reverting to FAT32 and reinstalling XP. Connecting a second monitor to the VGA socket works either as a clone of the first display, or as an extended desktop (my desired mode), on XP but not SuSE. Using YOU got me up to date nVidia drivers, but only a clone display. Running `XFree86 -scanpci' shows one adapter, and SaX2 says only a single monitor is possible. If it can be done on the dark side, shouldn't it also work here? Details: Dual Boot, SUSE 9.1 Pro (very little server stuff) and W_XP Laptop: HP Pavilion zd7168cl Graphics Adapter: nVidia GForce FX Go5600 Display (per HP): 17.0 inch WXGA+ WA TFT (1440x900), 6x9 aspect ratio Display (per XaS2): VESA 1280x1024 @ 60Hz, size 270 x 200mm Actual size 360mm wide x 230mm high ______________________________________________________________________________________________ -- I did find an example of a Toshiba config file for TwinView, and it has only a single Monitor and Device defined. That makes sense since there is only one PCI BusID available.
