I have a Debian box setup with amavis, postfix, and clamav and I get 
there error messages in mail.log but clamav still will check emails that 
have viruses and drop them.  So at first it seems clam is down but it 
keeps stopping emails with viruses, any ideas on what problem is causing 
these error messages?

Can't connect to UNIX socket /var/run/amavis/clamd.ctl: No such file or

av-scanner FAILED: Too many retries to talk to /var/run/amavis/clamd.ctl 
(Can't connect to UNIX socket /var/run/amavis/clamd.ctl: No such file or 
directory) at (eval 38) line 180.
