I use the stock debian kernel on my desktops (meaning I have installed kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686 and kernel-source-2.6.7). But the default Debian kernel doesn't work with the hardware on my laptop, so I build my own. You can try apt-geting the kernel-image and kernel-source for your machine and see if it works for you. Just make sure that your old kernel is still in your lilo.conf (or grub.conf) so you aren't left with a broken system. Mike, it might be less disruptive to your life if you used the OpenMosix Knoppix disk, ClusterKnoppix. Granted I haven't read the entire thread so you may have decided against that for some reason. The reason I say it, is that openmosix isn't that useful for a typical workstation machine. You should have a specific problem you are trying to solve and build your solution around that. But its just not going to be too useful on your desktop. So if its just a matter of trying it out, which is great!, I would suggest using the cluster knoppix disk since it has the mosix in the kernel already. And there are a few things you can try out (drawing fractals using several computers) password cracking ... etc. Austin --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
