As I discovered later I did not need to 'sudo' to run telnet. Thanks, Jay,for letting me know about my goofiness in that I was trying to telnet into the ethernt card. The switch's ip address was 10.10.10.1 but I thought it said 10.10.10.10 because I had eraswed a 10 from that same area and it looked like a 10. But I changed it to a 5 so I wouldn't make that error again. -- <:-)Mike(-:> On Thursday 08 July 2004 07:28, Bart Garst wrote: > On Wed, 2004-07-07 at 23:39, Michael Havens wrote: > > On a whim I decided that I wanted to play with this switches ipaddress. > > So I started telnet and the stupid program won't let me in now! > > What am I doing wrong? > > > > bmike1@0[bmike1]$ ifconfig eth0 > > eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:08:C7:CA:62:4B > > inet addr:10.10.10.2 Bcast:10.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0 > > UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 > > RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 > > TX packets:47 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 > > collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 > > RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:7333 (7.1 KiB) > > Interrupt:9 Base address:0xd800 Memory:df100000-df100038 > > bmike1@0[bmike1]$ sudo telnet > > I'm curious.
