I tried Knoppix on a G4 400Mhz and got the kdeinit error and thought it was because it's just an old system. I'm downloading Gentoo right now and was going to post back with the results. I bought the iBook so I can stay in touch and check my servers while I'm away in a couple of weeks. My wife 'needs' KPatience.
