Well, in spite of my whining it all turned out ok. I just started up in run mode 3 and ran XFdrake as someone suggested. Good to know about the alt-key trick, however. I certainly don't think Windows is perfect, nor do have any warm fuzzy feelings for MS, but you have to admit that even with the slick graphics of Mandrake, there are many little flaws that still make Linux feel clumsy by comparison. I think it is because so much of it is built on top of very old command-line programs. Its a little like when Windows was built on top of DOS. Somebody needs to do a commercial GUI front end that's not built on X and some legacy window manager. If I could always get the kernel for free I would be happy to pay for a slick UI with a well-designed API. Looking at the KDE and Gnome APIs I was not impressed. Too haphazard. That's the problem with most FOSS. -- Phil Mattison Ohmikron Corp. 480-722-9595 ext. 1 602-820-9452 mobile --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
