Okay, now that Cox's e-mail seems to be working again, I can put this out. ORACLE USERS GROUP: I'm CC'ing you this because someone had asked us about installing Oracle 9i on a Linux system. If anyone would be willing to help, this would be greatly appreciated. It would also be a nice networking opportunity. Invitation to the PLUG Installfest is open to all who are simply interested in installing Linux on either your home system or small business or viewing Linux demos, or who wish to volunteer to help others with their Linux systems. Official call for volunteers. please RSVP. User RSVP's: o LAMP install with Samba, VNC, and Oracle 9i. o Two home system installs. The following are demos that need to get running. For all these demos, multiple machines can fill one role, and one machine can fill multiple roles. What's important is we have the following demos: ** Samba demo with Windows machines that operate on files through apps (e.g. a common Excel sheet or Quicken file) ** webserver, phpgroupware, jabber, e-mail server, spamassassin demo for small business. ** LTSP demo for small business with data entry terminals. o Simple Linux installs with e-mail, web, network printer, office. o Multimedia editing: images, audio, video. I **'ed the ones I think are most important. Anthony, technomage, and George responded with machines adequate to fill all these roles. Dean mentioned he had enough 'spare' parts to bankrupt Dell. Jonathan Claxton said he had a working, flashy game system. Over the last month, I've recieved the following responses for volunteers: L? George Gambill L? technomage L? Eric Shubes L? Dean McCarron L? Robert Ambrose L? Jonathan Claxton L5 Ed Culbertson L5 Michael Havens L2 Erik L1 Anthony Milbauer L1 Alan Dayley L1 Derek Neighbors Note, it may be possible that not many users will show up at this installfest. But if this turns into Woodstock and we don't have people to help roll out desktops, we'll be in a real bind. Please come one and all. At the worst this will be a get-together and tinkerfest, at the best a full blown install conference. After about three of these rather uncertain installfests, we'll probably have a much better idea of how to conduct them and satisfy everyone. -- --Alexander --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
