On one I replaced an existing writer, on the other (the one where ide-scsi didn't see the drive) it had previously had no writer at all. The first one (my development machine - the one with the DVD burner) is the one I got working with 9.1. The other is too much a critical system, I don't want to upgrade it! So hopefully I'll find some way to fix it manually. As far as the third burner on Windoze, I'll try reinstalling the software. Thanks for your feedback!
