I bet you were looking at JavaScript code.
It's not HTML at all, but looks a lot like C
in places.  You can do a lot without too much
study (unlike C) and it's worth looking into
for a rounded view of web authoring.

The downside is that a lot of your web visitors
will have JavaScript disabled. ...
